Excellent, I lived in Plumstead for about 27 year since moving from Kenya and now I've been living in Toronto Canada since 1993. Nice to see my old home town.

It's wonderful to see such great shots of Plumstead. It's unfortunate that Paul Coker died in Plumstead Police Station. The case is in the hands of the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The family are holding a peaceful vigil this Sunday at 8pm outside Plumstead Police Station.

If you believe in justice, please try to attend if you can.

Thank you

Where is this taken from?. Looks like the house I was born in many moons ago. The newer houses on the opposite are built on old Woolwich Council Yards which use to house Steam Rollers.

Nice to see the high street, market and common road... I used to travel up to woolwich when the university of greenwich was there (92-96). Ahh memories... A few piccies of general gordon square toward wellington / powis street and the old university building would be nice.....

What lovely photos of Plumstead. Its great to see you documenting this time period of the area. The first document to mention 'Plumstede' was in 960 AD, so you are continuing a long tradition. Some other places that you might consider photographing are the Victorian cottages at The Slade, the Saxon Barrow on the common, St. Nicholas church and the plume of feathers public house (two of the oldest buildings in the area). If you stand on the top of Shooters hill near the water tower theres a great view of the London eye. Keep up the great work.

It seems all comments will be on the final photo!
My thanks to the photographer,
I now live in North Yorkshire but I was born in St Nicks Plumstead and lived there untill I was 5.
Came back to Conway road tower block at 19 years old
for about 5 years (20th floor)in 1985
as a young bloke starting out.
The tower block is now gone as are all of the people who made Plumstead the great place it was. Sorry but I feel sad that multicultural has spoilt my birth place. It is not as friendly as it was and I was not welcome in my own
hometown on a visit because some brown people did not know me and said I was an outsider!! So So sad.

Thank you so much for taking those pictures, I have once live in plumstead for a couple of months and moved back to my home country Jamaica. Since then I have always wanted to see pictures of places that I went to when I was there. I have searched the internet so many times for pictures, but I never got the ones I wanted until now. Because you now I have pictures of all the places that I went to when I was there and the memories of going through woolwich after school.

Ps. Do keep up the good work for like me lol

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a house on Riverdale St or Purrett Rd - v close to the leisure centre and just off the high street. I have heard pixed things about the high street area of Plumstead. Some people say stay away from it as there are still kids/ gangs hanging about. As a single woman who would be wanting to walk to/from the station at night, could any of you PLumstead "fundi's" who know the area possibly comment on the safety aspect in this particular area of Plumstead for me? Many thanks!
